Jellypark Friends Marvelously Masculine Challenge

The challenge upon us at JP this fortnight is to make a card for a guy, young or old. Since Father's Day is right around the corner, it seems like a great time to make a card for your dad. And Jellypark has the perfect image available in the store right now: Father and Children. It is so cute, and is the new JP charity stamp--all proceeds from the sale of this stamp will go to charity.

Claire also has some really cute sentiments in the store for a Father's Day card, so be sure to check them out, too. Creating with her images has been so much fun for me.

Before I get to my card this week, I am going to add a few more tidbits about the Bahamian trip we took last month. I hit the high points about our food, so won't mention that again. Except to say that we had Starbucks there, and it did cost twice as much as it does here. Terrible thing to be addicted to their Chai Lattes when you are in a foreign country, huh? Oh, and they get New Zealand butter, which I found fascinating. To ship butter all that way--there must be a great deal in that somehow for both countries! Don't get me wrong--the butter tasted like butter. Fancy that. It was just odd to see a New Zealand label on it. Also, if I didn't mention it before, this was my first trip outside the U.S. I was a foreign-traveling-virgin. Hmmm....there must be a better way to say that. I haven't seen my actual you-know-what for a few decades.

If you ever get to Atlantis Paradise Island, you will find the grounds are just fantastic, beautifully maintained, and the buildings are all so different. It is a fantabulous family vacation spot. So much for the kids to see and do. Great fresh air, (just don't go during rainy season), 3 beautiful beaches with gorgeous turquoise water and white sands, and 11 swimming pools. There are 14 water lagoons for various water sports and fish/animal exhibits, 18 water slides that will apparently make you scream, (no we didn't try them, but we could hear the peeps that did loud and clear), a teen center, tons of activities for the young-uns, and a fascinating aquarium, called the Ruins at Atlantis. Oh, you can even snorkel the  "Ruins" if you'd like--though I really didn't want to get in the water with the sharks and the sting rays. There was a giant ray, whose stinger was either broken off or amputated. Not sure if that was a safety precaution, as we didn't do the actual underground "tour" to hear all the details. We walked through the exhibit by ourselves, so that we could take our time taking photos.

Here are some shots of the buildings and grounds:

Here's a shot of one water slide. I managed to catch the person going down it. And you know how? Because I waited for the scream, so I knew when to snap the shot. Almost everyone coming down this slide announced it that way.

Here's a couple of shots of the Lobby at the Royal Towers, where the smoke-laden casino is, as well as the Dig, where the aquarium is:

Here's the area leading down to the Dig:

And here are some shots of the aquarium. There are some gorgeous fish, two schools of them, (one for the apparently horizontally-challenged), some ray photos, a shark or two, bio-luminescent jellyfish, a crazy lobster grouping, a seahorse, some really ugly eels, a coral grouping, and a couple of fish that look just like Gary and I when we argue.

Did you see Nemo's family up there? Looks like he was pretty prolific to me.

And here's the view we had from our balcony. Not the prettiest, but at least we got to look at water!

More photos another day. Hope that wasn't too many for you. (And if it was, tough.) (Ooooh, my evil twin is back. I kind of missed her, didn't you?) We had more photos, believe me, but thought this selection would give you an idea of how cool the Dig is. There was actually a gift shop down there, too, with very expensive gifts.

Now to my card for the new JP challenge. I love this image, called Knight and Dragon. It appeals to the sci-fi side of me. I printed them on MICBC and then colored them with my Twin Touch Brush and Copic markers:

Skin: E000, TTR131, TTYR133, TTR139
Hair: E15
Armor: W1, W3, W4, W5
Glove & Pennant: YR21, YR23, YR27
Dragon: BG70, BG72, BG75, V000, V12, V15

I chose some DP from the Basic Grey Plumeria collection, and paired it with CS from Stampin' Up. I used a Stampin' Up sentiment from the Embrace Life collection. My background DP was distressed with my Zutter tool. I inked the fishtails with some SU inks. I added a bit of burlap and a few die cuts made with the following dies: MFT Fishtail Flag Stax, MFT Mini Film Strip, MFT Mini Pennant, MFT Mini Tabs Foursome, and LaLa Land Crafts Folding Banner. I stapled the mini tab with a mini stapler. And then I called it a day.

I am looking forward to your entries for this challenge. Please check out both the challenge creations and the new release creations by my fabulous teammates--who are also super-sweet and supportive. Love this group! Now go have a great weekend. That's an order. From the little knight.
